Wisdom From The Woods helped me let my guard down and understand that what I was feeling at this time of my life – the starting of a brand new chapter – was not unique.

Rather, it highlighted that we all have starts and stops within our lives, perhaps some more than others – and it is an opportunity to become a seeker each time to find the right path forward.

In terms of my spiritual journey, Wisdom From The Woods was the encouragement to find a practice that fits my personal needs and abilities, as well as the stage of life that I am now living.  It reassured me that it was not a one-size-fits-all decision, but more determining what would enable me to hear what God and my heart might tell me based on what spiritual practice takes me to that point/place of being able to truly listen.

Connecting to Creativity

I had purchased Julia Cameron’s book back in the 1990s but never opened it, fearing that it was trying to pull out an artist in me that I did not feel I could be.

The highlight of The Artist Way in Wisdom From The Woods as part of the Healing Journey process made me open it after 20+ years and read through it.

The steps outlined truly open your heart and soul through unleashing the untapped, creative spirit.  Little did I understand that spirit’s relationship to God, my faith, and how it would aid me in my spiritual journey. The Healing Journey encourages you to look back as well as forward in your life, learning lessons from the past, and decide how to use what is discovered to tackle your future – with its opportunities and challenges.

Just a short time into The Artist’s Way and WFTW books, I was getting back to journaling – a practice that I gave up on. I now see the pulls toward creativity outlets are taking me to that space where I can hear the guidance within and tackle the road ahead.

A major Wisdom From The Woods takeaway for me was a confirmation that silence is needed in our lives. We should protect and nurture our alone time as much as our social time – which is so radical in this time of social media overload.
